I grew up in rural England with my Miss Marple-esque grandmother who taught me many a craft. A career in theatre design took me around the world, but I have come home to the Somerset hills & rediscovered my love for the handmade.

Welcome to the Itinerant Bizarrium, where I create my one-of-a-kind dolls. Inspiration comes from many directions - often coloured by my professional involvement in theatre & burlesque - and I am always happy to hear others' suggestions (feel free to message me via Etsy, Facebook or Twitter with ideas as well as commissions)

I am asked from time to time whether the dolls are hard or soft - & the confusing answer is "both". They do "squish" a little when you hold them, but the layers of paint make the fabric feel more like leather than anything plush.
I do endeavour to make the dolls robust - nothing is merely glued in place, & all hand-stitching of limbs & hair is done with extra-strong thread. I also use natural fibres for hair & clothing whenever possible (obviously vintage scraps don't come with a content label!)

All the dolls are packed into gift-worthy boxes individually decorated & tied with ribbon before being parcelled up in classic brown paper, string and sealing wax. Sometimes you just have to stick with tradition.

Thank you for reading, & I hope you enjoy your time in my world.
